Wind and Fire

Ramblings in the Wind of Fire and Rain blown in.

I'm a college graduate, a web developer, and soon to be a student again. I picked up the blog-reading virus in the last year and a half and it replicated itself rapidly. I will never again have an unread items count of 0. This virus is also partially to blame for my realization that Human Sexuality is a viable career option. So please excuse me while I worship the internets.

No More Secrets (For now)

(about WTF)
(You get the point)

WTF is out! And for now I'm allowed to blog it. =D I've put the first two WTF posts back up. That's all. *grins*

Top Secret

Ok, well, since I can't blog about WTF? at the moment here's a fun site, I Can Has Cheezburger for some quality time with your computer. Humor and cats, what more can you ask for. Well, lots, but we won't get into that now.

P.S. Keep your eyes open.

WTF?!?

Well, it looks like a series of unfortunate events backed things up last night and we had to roll back WTF. We're working on some streamlining so that we can put it back out there.

In the few hours that it was live, several people decided it was a Digg rip-off. Sure, they both have voting and hey, they both let you vote on things you find on the web. However, on Digg you vote for other peoples articles and posts on the web. On Technorati you create an explanation about popular searches, or about something you think people might search for. People can then vote for your explanation if they find it enlightening and entertaining. When a term is searched for we put the most popular WTF explanation on that topic at the top of the search results. This way you can know WTF before reading posts that talk about the topic but may not explain it.

Essentially we're trusting our users to know WTF, after all, they're the ones talking about it. We're opening ourselves up for spam, but that's what the voting is for, and again, where our users come in. So when we put WTF back out there, give it a try; form your own opinion.

WTF...

(Published 1/30 and taken out to keep the secrets game going)

In a few moments we'll be launching our new feature. Go check it out at Technorati

Check out the little fires next to top searches or do a search. You can see explanations about why certain topics are popular right now as well as write your own. It's been fun around the office. Hope you enjoy. We'll be adding little tweaks here and there to WTF and in fact this is just a hint of some of the changes we've been talking about. Shhh...

Getting Things Done (Sort of)

Yeah, I know, Friday Cat Blogging has not been getting done. And no, I haven't gone to class since the first week either. And yeah, my room is still a mess, but it's better than it was this morning. *grins*

I did however manage to take my car in for an oil change. I also did my laundry (For all of you out there who understand just how difficult that is). I've been to a couple dance lessons this month. I even saw a movie at a real theater... if you count the one at Stanford Square. *grins*

You can stop shaking your finger at me now. ;-)

Much of this productivity occurred today (and is still in process). I woke up and had breakfast with a good friend, made some progress on some Ze, transfered a bunch of files from the old computer, took my car to the mechanic, read from my AJAX book, went to the store, cared for my new plants =), did laundry while I studied Japanese and did a little work for Technorati.

Aren't you proud. *big grin*

Currently blogging while I upload photos to flickr. I even multitask! =-0

Ok, maybe a more interesting post next time. Hope you enjoyed the laundry list.

Friday Cat Blogging

The first Friday of the new year. Friday Cat Blogging. Can I keep it up? Can I manage to make a new post every Friday? Not a resolution, but I'm curious...

And who said cats and dogs don't get along anyway?
