I'm a college graduate, a web developer, and soon to be a student again. I picked up the blog-reading virus in the last year and a half and it replicated itself rapidly. I will never again have an unread items count of 0. This virus is also partially to blame for my realization that Human Sexuality is a viable career option. So please excuse me while I worship the internets.

Some time sinks

Want a tour of interesting structures around the world and a say in the "new seven wonders"?

In addition to watching cat videos on www.youtube.com I think I'll also subscribe to
After that? Go work on your Holloween costume! Or go fly a kite, go play on the swings, watch the waves roll in at the beach, read a good book in a hammock, bake a pie, wait, hold that one for when it gets cooler. It's still pretty nice out in many places. Get out. Enjoy the transition of the seasons. Do as I say. Now!

I have a gnarly paper cut

Paper cuts are evil.

I found out yesterday that although my client is expecting search capabilities on her site, she is mistaken as to who is going to implement it. Originally it was to be implemented by her manager. At least, this is what I was told. I met with her manager yesterday however and I'm not sure anybody told her about it and she doesn't know how to do it even if they had. *sighs* So, on me now. With three weeks 'til deadline. With testing that's two weeks. With homework and work... *sighs again*

Oh, and I missed Friday Cat blogging again. Friday the 13th Cat Blogging! That would have made me happy. I'll have to find somebody who did do Cat Blogging last week.

I think I'm having a not so good day. I couldn't work tonight because I was stressing out about something and then come to find out I didn't need to stress about it and somehow I'm still stressed. Argh. I need to go to bed. I woke up this morning on the train. 10 min after it had come to the end of the line. Right. Bed.

Happy Coming Out Day.

My friend in DC is pretty excited, which makes me smile. I wish I could be more excited about the occassion, but certain things are wearing on me more than I thought they would. I'm still functioning which is great. I'm actually more productive than I've been for a long time. This makes me happy. I think that after this weekend I'll be pretty close to caught up. What is it about being at odds with somebody that just drags everything down though?

Things are pretty good at Technorati, I'm working on a few re-orgs and getting our pages to validate. Oh, and testing in Windows. I swear, dealing with Windows/IE makes me want to sign in to an institution. An interesting point was made yesterday: IE 7 is expected out soon and we should start testing in the Beta before all of our currently necessary IE hacks turn around and bite us in the ... uh ... you know where this is going.

Cat Blogging!!!

I love cat blogging. Doesn't she just look a little crazy? She is. ;)

The trains conspired against me again today, but 'tain't no thang. Now the fact that I have to find a pc to do my gaming assignment by Monday? That's a thing. Do I really have to commute down to Foothill and back on Saturday to work in one of the labs, that may even be closed because of the code camp? I should register for that...

*sighs*
I should also get work done I guess. Argh.

The End of the World

There was a discussion of deadlines and timeliness at work this morning and as an example somebody mentioned that the end of the world could come tomorrow, and is that really a date you're going to believe?

Personally, I don't think the end of the world will come tomorrow, it seems much more likely today. I arrived at the train station to wait for the 7:58 as usual and found that the caltrain tickers were scrolling madly about this and that train being 15 - 60 min late. "... is experiencing problems in Mt View - will be one railing through that area and is running 60min late." I checked the schedule: that particular train was scheduled to leave Mt. View 80min prior. Hmmm... No mention of my train. I caught the next North bound to stop. Later an announcer reiterates that the delays were caused by train problems somewhere south of PA. It's not until I switch trains in Milbrae that an announcer tells us that it is due to a fatality in Mt. View.

Other indications of crazy end of the worldness: People in our office are being moved around as is the furniture. A senator got away with sending sexual content to pages while passing anti molestation legislation for how long??? Everybody is having a birthday. Everything seems to conspire toward confusion. And, given the lateness of my arrival and its cause and the rest of my week, I'm in an inexplicably good mood. I sense impending Doom, and yet I'm bubbly. Hmm. This is sometimes my reaction to chronic stress/blah though so I guess not terribly unusual. I get tired of being under the weather.

And Blogger.com used "Shiny" to describe their beta!!!

Battle Scars

Ever had the chance to be hit by a flying plastic ball that leaves a welt three times it's size? Do try. It's great fun. The welts have gone down and now there are just large colorful blotches and I'd do it again in a heartbeat. Of course those heartbeats will be much faster once you're pulling a rubber mask over your head to protect you from projectiles, but you'll enjoy it.

Oh, and The Rainy Season arrived while we were fervently firing away at eachother. :D The first rain. Short and mild, but the first rain none-the-less. The weather has changed, which makes me happy. For a couple weeks it'll go back and forth, and then it will settle in to several months of monotony again. But it changed! And I'm happy with that.

In other news, back to work. I got a couple redesigns and bug fixes up last week and I think this week I'll do some more with restructuring the css. We'll see. I have class again on campus tomorrow (hopefuly I'll get there on time) and yeah, still need to set up a meeting with Doug and co. So lots of work to do, still working on catching up, but I don't feel like the weekend was wasted, though much work was left undone. It was short, but you know what they say about that.
